Sunday, the day of rest, right?

I broke the Sabbath today, not bad, but I spent money. While driving home from church, I saw the same little boy selling newspapers on the corner. I felt bad because I always drive by and don't buy one. I can't help but look him in the eye. Most people just ignore him or try to look away, but not me. I look straight at him, and he stares into my poor soul. I can't say no to people, well most people. So today, I caved. I took out $2 from my wallet and gave it to him. I even let him keep the change.
I was feeling pretty good about this decision. I mean, I probably made his day, right? Then when my husband got home, he talked a little more sense into me. He asked me if I knew where that kid got those papers from. I'm thinking, yeah he has some sort of deal with the Albuquerque Journal. Husband says, no. He more than likely got them from one of the newspaper machines where you put in the $1 and then are supposed to only take 1. He probably took them all.
I basically just funded a lifetime thief. Whoops.

Happy Easter

Ok, I know this is over 2 months late, but we did celebrate Easter. We started off with a little egg hunt at my parents' house, followed by some ham. Then we had another egg hunt at Dylan's parents' house, followed by some ham. Overall, holidays=double the fun and double the pant size. With 2 families so close, it's hard to not indulge on those special days. The only problem is, there are a lot more holidays just the big ones. Now we have Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, Columbus Day, Black History Month, and the list goes on. Even if I gain a pant size, nothing compares to being close to family. Happy Easter everyone... in June.

Just the 3 of us...

We have an announcement to make. After much thought, prayer, and making out, we have decided to expand our family. It just seemed like the right time for us, and the timing worked out just perfect. We just moved into a little house where we have lots of room, and things couldn't be more perfect.

I know what you are thinking... WHAT??? No, we aren't pregnant! We got a dog. We aren't ready for babies, but a puppy was a good step for us. Dylan recently asked if babies don't open their eyes for the first few weeks of life (uh, no babe, that is puppies). So, naturally with those kinds of comments, we opted for a dog.

Her name is Barkley, and she is perfect. She is 1 year old (we celebrated her first birthday on March 29). She is potty trained, doesn't chew, doesn't bark, no joke, she's an angel dog. We couldn't be more lucky. I feel like these kinds of things happen to a lot of people with their first baby/dog. You have the perfect first one, so you decide to get more (or have more if it is babies). Then, you get the devil children/dogs, but since you already have 2, you better just keep going. Hence shows like "18 kids and Counting".

Here she is in all her glory and cuteness. We are currently learning tricks at Obedience School, and she is the top of the class. I will keep you updated, graduation is around the corner.

MIA for 2 months....

Where have the Carlisles been for the last 2 months? Well Dylan is taking 18 credit hours at school this semester, so he is out of the blogging world. And me? Well I work for Corporate America now so you can count me out as well....

Happy Anniversary!!!

On January 17, Dylan and I celebrated our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! Time flies when you are living with your best friend. As cheesy as it sounds, marriage is the best. It has been the most fun year getting to be together all the time, driving each other crazy, and falling more in love all the time. We are still in newlywed phase, and plan to be that way for a LOOONG Time (atleast until we pop out some little Dylans, which will not be ANYTIME soon). On our Anniversary, we went to one of our favorite restaurants and splurged on some steaks, then came home and ate our 1 year old wedding cake, which was an adventure all in itself:

The other ones that is. Since we have been back in Albuquerque, it has been so much fun to hang out with our families, especially the little ones. We have been having Sunday dinner, watching basketball games, babysitting on occasion, and going to the zoo with these little ones:

Either way I need to "catch up" on life on my blog. I do have a camera, and I do take pictures. Believe it or not we have a pretty fun life. We have no kids, and it is all about us time right now. Here is a little summary of our last month in St. George :

My friend Whitney got married, and I went to another BFF's wedding alone.
I love weddings, but in the future I hope my sweet husband will not be
in the middle of finals week :(

We (I) made the cutest little gingerbread men for my work party. Dylan had
no objections tasting them to make sure they were ok to serve to people.

We went to the temple, and of course to KRAVE with our friends. (Calders are
not pictured, but they were there too!) We miss our St. G friends so much.
Now instead of hanging out with them on Friday nights, we just talk
about how much fun they were and how loserish we are now with no couple friends. (Family does not count).

We hung with Santa, and said goodbye to our fun ward that we grew to love so much.

And we said goodbye to the most fun Primary Kids ever. Don't even get me started on them... best kids ever, learned so much, definitely cried a LOT!!

Dear Nicholas Sparks,

I am not someone who reads books often, so when I sit down to read a book, that means it is darn well worth my time. I enjoy your sappy love stories, and I have read atleast a dozen of your books. I loved Dear John (the book). I thought it was the sweetest love story. I wrote my missionary for 2 years in Guatemala, and this cute story hit close to home. I even talked my husband into seeing the movie Dear John. Why, Nicholas Sparks? Why do you keep selling your stories to movie companies and letting them ruin them? Please don't do that again.

Schedule

Before January 19th:

8:00-9:30 wake up
9:30 and on - do whatever the HECK I WANT!!!! This includes but is not limited to: lots of family time, going to lunch, taking naps, going window shopping and drooling over furniture for the house, facebooking, going to dinner with parents (who wouldn't take advantage of this?), going shopping, doing arts and crafts, hanging out with my husband 24/7, etc, etc.

Starting January 19th:

6:00 AM wake up
6:45 out the door
7:40 arrive at work
8:00-5:00 WORK
5:00-6:00 drive home

These are the joys of my life right now. I am becoming an adult. I wake up early and drive almost an hour to work. I guess these are the joys of living in a big city and having to commute to work. I mean, don't get me wrong, the job is worth it. I just didn't think I realized how much I loved sleep until this week. Oh, and how much driving is not that great in traffic.
Work has been good so far. I have a LOT to learn but it is a great opportunity. I may have you all fooled into thinking I am smart or something by scoring this sweet job, but I am still a blond at heart. I left my lights on this morning at work, so they were on ALL day long ( hey it is dark when I leave, and by the time I get to work it is light so I couldn't tell they were on). Luckily, some old guy with a sweet heart helped me out since there was NO way my husband could drive all that way to jump my car. I love being a girl.

Employed

Well after the long search and the stress of being unemployed for almost a month, I am employed! I am working at Hewlett Packard, and I am very excited for this great opportunity. I start Tuesday, so the lazy days are coming to an end. It's an entry level position for new college grads, so I just barely made the cut. If you want the details talk to me. It's a great job, and we are excited to be making some real money so we can finally start saving for dental school. Thank you BYU, I can finally use my degree that I worked so hard for :)
